Gilran is a small town in the Free States of America; a country once part of the former United States. Not only is it fascist, with laws and attitudes reminiscent of the 19th century, but the problems that have plagued humanity still remain. Unrequited love, wild shenanigans, cops on power trips, and the occasional small town drama.
This slice of life dystopian revolves around Jake, the justice-hungry son of a businessman; Maple, a rebellious teenager dreading her future as a housewife; Sebastian, the mayor's trauma-ridden son struggling with his sexuality; Axel, a blacklisted mechanic living in his van; Stellaluna, a chronically-bored woman married to a billionaire; and Luke, a single father. Although their personalities and desires differ, they all wish for one thing: Freedom. If only the majority of the country agreed with them. Instead, they find their own ways of rebelling, even at the risk of becoming outcasts.
Russell is a studious goth with a knack for following the rules. Sal is a carefree slack-off who would rather work retail than go to college. It was hate at first sight. Until they were forced to partner up in class. After their true feelings surface, Sal learns just how different he is from Russell, and all seems hopeless. How can their relationship last, if Sal is asexual? And that's not their only problem.
Surprisingly unpredictable, The Riveting Lives of Russell and Sal is about two social outcasts that become the most unlikely couple imaginable.
In a land where magic is illegal, Faye is a homeless half-fairy, roaming the streets of Acren in search of money to steal. Until she comes across a man on the run who needs her help. Despite the man's mysterious past, Faye follows him, in hopes of finding a better life, in a place where she doesn't have to hide her identity. However, the journey isn't an easy one, with King Lyon's guards after them. And that's just their first obstacle. Together, the half-fairy and the runaway must make their way out of Vustaria, and into Dorendi. But it turns out there's something else in Dorendi the man has his eye on, and Faye must make a decision on where she really wants to go.
Oliver works an ordinary job in an office. But two new mysterious hires, Jyri and Faye, turn his average life upside down. Three, if you count his crude, new boss. With the encouragement of his best friend, they try to find out what the deal is with Jyri and Faye. Are they time travelers? Aliens? Time traveling aliens? Meanwhile, Jyri and Faye struggle to fit into a universe much different than their own. Things only get more complicated when creatures, and people, from their fantasy world find their way into modern day America. And it gets worse when Jyri can't find Oliver.
Emma McKernal is a high school junior with wild ideas. But when one indirectly causes the death of the drama teacher's pet parrot, she must replace it. The problem is, she doesn't have any money. Luckily there is a video game contest with a $2,000 grand prize, and playing video games is her number one hobby. Will she manage to win the contest, get a new bird, and fool the teacher to get out of trouble? Probably not, but she's going to try anyway.
