About Me

Riley Kifer is my pen name, because I prefer to be anonymous on the internet. I wanted a gender-neutral name in case someone decides to judge me for being a woman. And Riley is my favorite gender-neutral name! I used to be a driver, and spent quite a bit of time on a street called Kifer. It sounded like a good last name. (Fun fact many of the last names I choose for characters are taken from street names near me!) My stories range from fiction, to young adult, to fantasy. You can go to my books page to see exactly what I've written.

Writing for me is just a hobby. I never properly published anything before, nor do I plan to. Posting things on sites like Wattpad and Inkitt is good enough for me.

I used to write stories and poems when I was a kid/young teenager. But then I stopped in favor of making computer art. Then, majored in Digital Media in college. Then, lost all interest in computer art. And got depression! Anyways, after graduating college, I decided to write a novel. I'd always joke about writing a book that contained every teen romance trope ever. And so, "The Riveting Lives of Russell and Sal" was born! Except I ended up taking it in a completely different direction. It only ended up with a few tropes instead of every.

And that's not the first time a story went according to plan. At all. That's why I don't plan ahead when I write, other than jotting a few notes beforehand. I just, write and see where the story takes me! Unfortunately this leads to many unfinished WIPs.

Now I'm getting sidetracked! I also wanted to mention, that as a teenager, I also blogged a lot on a site called Xanga. I also took a creative writing class in community college. And you wanna know what's funny? I got more praise for my writing in that one class than I did for my art in the countless classes I took for my major. Someone legit even told me they looked forward to my writing each class. Meanwhile, I can only think of three art projects I've done that got me compliments in all my art/design classes combined. My mom even has this dorky dog poem I wrote when I was 13 framed on the wall. But none of my art!

I'm getting side-tracked again. If you couldn't tell by now, I enjoy rambling and ranting. To the point where I forget where I was going with any of this. So I'll end it here.
